Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at holds 34th Jalsa Salana

The Amir and the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at in The Gambia, Senegal and Guinea Bissau recently held their 34th convocation (Jalsa Salana) at Nusrat Senior Secondary School in Bundung.

The programme, which began with a flag raising, brought together people across the country and the sub-region.

In his opening remarks, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Baba Trawally stressed the need for people to practise modesty and higher standards of morality.

According to him, the action of all the prophets of Allah, the Almighty is in twofold.

"That is to make peace among men and unite them and also to make peace between man and Allah, the Almighty," he said, adding that morality refers to good relationship. Men with high morality, he added, are those who carefully guard their relationship with fellow human beings.

Amir Baba Trawally stated that no one could be a friend of Allah, the Almighty without subjecting himself/herself to a high moral and spiritual discipline. He also advanced that parents have a great responsibility to inculcate modesty in their children, adding that they must control and monitor their children on a daily basis.

"We should be friends to our children and explain necessary issues to them before they destroy themselves," he said while expressing concern on the code of dress of the younger generation, especially young girl.

While condemning all forms of violence against innocent people, he urged all adherents of the Ahmadiyya to be law-abiding.

For his part, the Minister of Health and Social welfare Dr. Baboucarr Gaye highlighted some of the contributions the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at played and continues to play in the development of the country, notably in sectors like education, health, among others.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Hon Momodou Touray, the National Assembly Member for Central Baddibou, who advised the youths to be law-abiding and work for the betterment of the country as future leaders.
