April 1: If only this were an April Fools joke. At least that would make it less tragic.
Nine Christians of the Hutaree Christian militia have been arrested and charged for a plot to kill police officers and revolt against the Federal Government. Hutaree literally means "Christian Warrior." The Hutaree Christian Militia is particularly disturbing because of their beliefs of the imminent arrival of the anti-Christ. Hence, their military style preparations are in anticipation of the impending war with said anti-Christ.
The Hutaree Christian Militia is but one of the nearly 500 active militias currently organized in America. According to authorities, many of these militias are Christian based and their number has tripled since 2008.
While they have been officially charged, 8 of the 9 arrested Christian Warrior's have entered not guilty pleas. Their YouTube videos tell quite a different story, however.
The due process of law will determine the innocence or guilt of these individuals. However, we must remember that terrorism in any form has no religion. Time and time again we have stated that equating Al-Qaeda to Prophet Muhammad amounts to demonizing Jesus for the actions of the KKK. Perhaps a more fitting replacement for the KKK are the Hutaree Christian Warriors.
The Holy Qur'an champions the honor, and majesty of Jesus Christ. "When the angels said, ‘O Mary, God gives thee glad tidings of a word from Him; his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God." (Holy Qur'an 3:46). The Hutaree, in their feeble attempt to malign Jesus' teachings with their own convoluted thought, have failed miserably.
As Muslims, it is our duty to defend the honor of all the Prophets of God. In fact, Jesus Christ himself forewarned of such unfortunate individuals as the Hutaree Christian Warriors. "And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand." (Matt 7:26)
April Fools Hutaree - the jokes on you.
