"This is time for all members of the Jama`at to fervently pray to Allah Almighty to pour forth steadfastness on us, and to make our steps firm, and to help us against the disbelieving people. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Members of Jama`at Canada:

Assalamo alaikum wa Rahmatullah!

The barbaric attacks on the two Mosques in Lahore have shocked all Ahmadis around the world. Those who have died or are injured are part of our global but very close knit family.

While the pain of loss of family members is there and will remain forever, we are content with the decree of Allah and say only, "Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return."

Allah tells us in the Holy Qur'an: "And say not of those who are killed in the cause of Allah that they are dead; nay, they are living; only you perceive not. [2:155]

Thus those, who were killed in Lahore while worshipping in houses of Allah, have been blessed with the high status of Martyrdom. They are not dead. They are living because the object of their lives has been achieved. They have received the highest degree of Pleasure of Allah.

We are also certain that the blood of Ahmadis and their supreme sacrifice, will result in more blessings for Jama`at Ahmadiyya. Loss of our dear ones will most definitely result in further progress of the Jama`at. From every drop of their blood trees of our progress will sprout.

This is time for all members of the Jama`at to fervently pray to Allah Almighty to pour forth steadfastness on us, and to make our steps firm, and to help us against the disbelieving people. May Allah keep all Ahmadis around the world under the shade of His Mercy!

Along with supplications, Ahmadis in Canada, as individuals, should contact their members of parliament and ask that the Government of Canada must act now and apply pressure on governments that promote persecution of Ahmadis. We must urge that government of Pakistan must repeal all laws against Ahmadis that form the foundation for such massacre and continued persecution of Ahmadi Muslims.

Since this latest massacre, Jama`at Canada has taken the following steps in this regard:

  • A meeting was held with Minister of Citizenship and Immigration to inform the government about the plight of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan.
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs was contacted. He has formally condemned the attack on Ahmadis and promised to take other measures.
  • Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper has condemned the attacks.
  • Leader of Opposition, Michael Ignatieff has issued a very strong statement and also called High Commission of Pakistan in Ottawa and protested against these attacks.
  • Many MPs were contacted who have made statements condemning this attack. A large number of media was contacted and a number of press releases sent out to apprise media about this massacre.
  • A Canadian MP has contacted Pakistani government officials and demanded action.
  • Meetings with Chief of Police and other officers were held. Request for more police presence was made.

We will continue to work in this regard and we pray that this great trial of the Jama`at ultimately brings Allah's greater Blessings on the Jama`at. May Allah accept our meagre efforts and bless them manifold! Amen!

Our prayers, our sacrifice and our life and our death are all for Allah, the Lord of the worlds!

Wassalam!

Lal Khan Malik
