AN IRISH centre which recently bit the dust could have a new lease of life - as a mosque.
The former Hillingdon Irish Centre, based in Royal Lane, Hillingdon, has been selected by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association as a new site.
Plans to build a mosque are currently under consideration by Hillingdon Council, as they seek to make a decision on the future of the site.
There are only 11 parking spaces at the site, and at its peak, estimates show the mosque could attract 90 people, potentially causing traffic and parking problems for residents in the narrow road.
However, a traffic report commissioned by the association has praised the transport links in the area, with six buses serving the location.
It also adds: "There is an opportunity for visitors to travel to the mosque by cycle."
