Selective justice: Lahore High Court CJ takes notice of Christians’ murder - finally

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Tuesday took suo motu notice of the murder of two Christian brothers in Faisalabad.
The CJ directed the Faisalabad regional police officer to appear today (Wednesday) with complete record of the case.
The CJ observed, “It appears that the incident took place due to security lapse on the part of the police.” The CJ also directed the advocate general to assist the court on the matter.
The CJ took the notice on a news report appearing in a section of the press that two Christian brothers, Rashid Emanuel and Sajid Emanuel, were shot dead outside a court on July 19. Both were accused of writing a blasphemous pamphlet.
A police officer was also injured in the attack. The incident also led to protests in the city, causing damage to public property and injuring people. staff report
