Ireland: World leader of Muslim branch to lay foundation stone of city mosque

Member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, Dr.Nooman Iftikar says the visit of his holiness to Galway is a landmark occasion.

The world leader of a branch of Islam will lay the foundation stone of Galway city's first mosque this evening.

His holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmed is the leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, which has over 150 million followers.

He will be honoured at a civic reception this evening to mark the occasion.


Members of the Muslim community, politicians and Garda officials will attend the reception being held in the city.

Work on the mosque which will be located at a site on the Old Monivea road, is expected to be start in the next two to three months.
