USA: American Muslims are not extremists

American Muslims value many of the same principles that Americans do: love and loyalty for one's country, religious tolerance and secularism.

The painful memory of 9/11 seems to have brought out the worst in some people.

Growing resentment against Muslims and Islam has allowed for Pastor Terry Jones of Florida to plan "Burn a Quran Day."

Jones is not only undermining the traditions of religious tolerance in America, he is giving extremists an excuse to pit naive people against America in an attempt to increase the friction between Americans and American Muslims.

To close this divide, Americans must realize that the majority of American Muslims are nothing like the extremists responsible for 9/11.

American Muslims value many of the same principles that Americans do: love and loyalty for one's country, religious tolerance and secularism.

Cherishing these ideals, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community launched the "Muslims for Peace" campaign to build a peaceful and long-lasting relationship with all the people of this great nation.

Campaigns such as these, regardless of religious background, must be embraced to peacefully counteract the plans of Jones and his like.
