Unfortunately, Islam is once again under attack. And this time again, it is by its own people. Asia Bibi, a Christian female laborer from Lahore area of Pakistan may or may not have mouthed to her Muslim colleague about Prophet Mohammad, and now may spend rest of her life behind the bars, in accordance with the infamous blasphemy Law.
As a Pakistan born American Muslim, I am shocked, but not surprised, at the response this is getting from Pakistani media and public. I hope and pray that she is forgiven and freed, and maybe flown out of Pakistan for her safety.
The barbaric outcry of Pakistani public and blasphemy law, both are totally against the teaching of Islam and the teachings of Prophet Mohammad. Mohammad forgave his enemies (traitors, murderers, hypocrites etc), and thus was known as "mercy for all worlds".
He did not allow anyone to take any sort of revenge. Sadly, this is not the first time that a poor minority is becoming the target of vicious Muslim majority in Pakistan. A few months ago, three mosques of Ahmadiyya Muslims were attacked in Lahore and Pishawar and about 100 people were killed. Unfortunately, since Ahmadiyya Muslim are a minority since they're not considered Muslims in Pakistan, government has done nothing to provide them any security. It is a known fact that even the government is too scared to amend laws such as blasphemy.
I urge and beg rest of the Americans neighbors to write to their local newspapers, senators, and Pakistani embassy and help this poor lady so she can get back to her 5 children and live in peace.
