Imam uses peace conference to condemn ‘bigotry’
AN IMAM condemned the American Quran-burning controversy and poppy-burning stunt as bigotry by two different groups in a Muslim peace conference.
Imam Faiz Ahmad Zahidd, the Herts Imam of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, spoke at the Abbots Langley gathering in the Henderson Memorial Hall.
He said: “Both these groups are claiming to be representatives of their respective faiths. But in fact neither of them represents Christian or Islamic values.”
He also elaborated on the Islamic teachings of respecting other faiths, the founders of other faiths and their scriptures in his speech.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association organised the event.
Spokesman Lutf ul Islam said: “The speech was followed by a question and answer session. This session was lively and very interactive. The guests showed keen interest.”
There are over 90 branches of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community throughout the UK and they actively work to spread the peaceful message of Islam.
