On Thanksgiving day, 2010, Humanity First USA co-hosted, along with Pomona Valley Christian Center and other non-profits, a treat for the homeless and under privileged families In Southern California area.

The effort led by Luqman Malik and his team of volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association resulted in serving 2000 families at a time when the holidays season has brought a lot of emotional heartache for the less fortunate.

It is during the holiday seasons the homeless and the underprivileged feel less and less fortunate. Not to be able to spend time with their families makes the worst impact on individuals.

Luqman Malik, who serves as city director for Humanity First’s West coast region, says: “It’s my duty as a humanitarian along with our other volunteers of Humanity First to serve mankind.”

The recipients offered prayers and thank to the volunteers for their gesture of goodwill, who in return said it is their duty.

“Thanks for being here and I wish you blessings of God for doing such a wonderful thing,” said Juan Cardona, a recipient on Thanksgiving Day.

According to Cardona, he has lost everything during these hard times; first his job, then he lost his home, and then he lost his family.

“They went back home to Mexico because I had nothing to provide,” Cardona explained.

“This is just one example of countless others that don’t get told,” says Malik.

“Sometimes it is not the monetary donations that matter,” says Malik, “but the actions of our brave, caring and warm hearted individuals that go a long way.”

Malik appealed to everyone to become a part of the Humanity First family.  He appealed, to those who can, to donate their time and services to Humanity First USA.

Humanity First, USA, a 501(c) 3- registered nonprofit organization, was established in 2004 to restore disaster-stricken and under-developed and vulnerable communities around the globe. Humanity First has been expanding over the last few years to now being a registered charity in 29  countries worldwide.
