Eye on truth: Ahmadi Muslims perspective - Re. The true blasphemers I & II

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was an embodiment of compassion and extreme reserve even in the face of persecution by his staunchest enemies. His kindness encompassed all living things, including animals and trees.

"Would Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) have looked kindly at the blasphemy laws enacted during the tenure of Pakistani dictator Ziaul Haq? The infamous blasphemy laws have been used to advance political agendas, continually endanger minorities, and even make Muslims more Muslim." [Mahjabeen Islam | January 1, 2011 - Read here]

The true blasphemers — I

Sir: I am writing in reference to Mahjabeen Islam’s article ‘The true blasphemers’ (Daily Times, January 1, 2011). This article reverses the blame of blasphemy on the mullahs and very rightly so. One could not agree more with her final analysis that Pakistan’s education system propels the menace of extremism.
Most madrassas cater to the impoverished masses and are churning out generations of radicalised students who have been brainwashed and indoctrinated.

No one tarnishes the message and philosophy of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) more than the modern day mullahs. It is extremely distressing to witness their audacity as they continue to propagate their ideology of hate.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was an embodiment of compassion and extreme reserve even in the face of persecution by his staunchest enemies. His kindness encompassed all living things, including animals and trees. It is a well-documented fact that once he became concerned about the welfare of an old lady who used to dump garbage on him every day. When she missed her ritual for a few days, Prophet (PBUH) inquired about her and upon learning that she was ill, he paid her a visit. In the light of this glaring show of compassion by the Prophet (PBUH), it is not difficult to predict what his response might have been to Aasia Bibi’s alleged utterances, even if she were guilty.

The true blasphemers — II

Sir: I am writing in reference to Mahjabeen Islam’s article ‘The true blasphemers’ (Daily Times, January 1, 2011). I commend the Daily Times for continuing to publish bold and rational pieces that challenge the pseudo-Islamic laws in Pakistan.

For far too long, the world has come to know of Islam through the news of terrorism, blasphemy laws and fatwas (decrees) of death. The great tragedy is that it is Islam that asks its followers to adopt a humane, tolerant and merciful attitude towards fellow human beings. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, the mainstream religious parties arouse base passions and false religious frenzy in the masses and hold the government hostage by the threat of anarchy.

I hope that the enlightened media such as the Daily Times would remain a voice of reason and a beacon of hope.
