To secure Islamic People`s Forum (FUI) massive demo at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (3/1) afternoon, Jakarta Police deployed 2,000 personnel. The march purpose was demanded the dissolution of Ahmadiyah. As planned before, the demo began at 1.30 pm, start from Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle continue with long march towards the Palace.
Head of Public Relations Police, Comr Baharudin Djafar, said that personnel was a combination of military deployed about 300 people, and all of the Metro Police, Resort Police and Sector Police in Jakarta. "We prepared 1,750-2,000 people. We also assisted by the Police Headquarters," said Baharudin Tuesday (3/1).
According to Baharudin, the protesters had reported this plan to the police. Therefore, they are responsible for this action. Yet the police will perform in front and rear to guard the demo. The amount of people which hold a demonstration estimated to be around 5,000 people.
"We`re going to guard, don’t let any man provoked the situation. We have already discussed this to run as we expected," he explained.
To anticipate the riots, the agency has also prepared various kinds of equipment such as water cannon. Actions taken by the officers, also adjusted to the regulations existing demonstration. "We adjust to the conditions on the ground," he added.
He asked for the protesters can do actions with calm and orderly. And do not interfere with community activities. "We secure the line of action of Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle, Monas, and the Palace," he continued.
