TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Former Indonesian Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Tyasno Sudarto has denied rumors that he and other retired general were planning a coup against President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. "There is no coup d’état, but a correction, by providing a solution so that problems can be resolved,” he told Tempo in Jakarta yesterday.
Tyasno stressed that the Indonesian Armed forces and retired general had no intention of a coup. “The duty of a retired soldier is to remind and correct firmly,” he said.

Tyasno stressed that the general was not involved in the riots or dismissal of Ahmadiyah in other areas. He also claimed he did not know that his name was included in the cabinet created by the “Islamic Revolution Council” as the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs. “That was never confirmed,” he said.
Defense Minister Poernomo Yusgiantoro is certain that the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) or the retired officers will not commit a coup d’état against Yudhoyono. “TNI is not doing politics now,” he said.
