Amnesty International Press Conference:
Violations of Freedom of Religion in Indonesia

Amnesty International says it is concerned about violations of freedom of religion and the failure to protect minorities in Indonesia by the government and the police.

There has been an increase in incidents of intimidation and attacks against the Ahmadiyya community and other religious minorities in Indonesia over the last few months, says Amnesty International in a media advisory posted online.

There has also been an increasing number of local regulations, says Amnesty International,  that have been issued in various provinces and districts restricting the Ahmadiyya.

According to the announcement, Amnesty International will join Kontras and other civil society groups at a joint press conference to discuss these issues.

The press confrence will be held at 2:00 PM, Jakarta time, on April 6, 2011 at Bertempat di Bakoel Koffie, Jl . Cikini No. 25 Menteng Jakarta Pusat.
