The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of the United Sates (AMC) strongly condemned the deadly suicide attacks on hundreds of worshipers gathered at a Sufi shrine in the Dera Ghazi Khan district of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
A press release issued by AMC said that the slaughter of innocent life fuels chaos and unrest in society and demanded that "Pakistan’s Government must protect its citizens".
The deadly attack took place last Sunday where at least 49 people were killed and 90 people were injured.
"The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community denounces any attempt to justify such barbaric attacks," the community further stressed in the press release.
Wasim Malik, Vice President of AMC-USA said that reverence for life is a part of Islam.
“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community calls on Pakistan’s government to apprehend those responsible for these attacks and take stronger measures to rid Pakistan of the scourge of extremism," Mr. Malik said.
"Our prayers and deepest condolences are with the families of the victims of the tragedy,” Mr. Malik added.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and the fastest growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans over 190 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions across the six continents.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is the first American-Muslim organization.
