Young Muslims are hoping to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. Members of the Leicester's branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association will take part in a 10km walk and run in Leamington Spa on Sunday.
The annual national fund-raising event brings together members of the national organisation and organisers hope to raise £225,000, more than double last year's total.
The event is in support of 10 major charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Macmillan Cancer Support, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, Save the Children, the NSPCC and the Royal British Legion.
Ibrahim Bonsu, the group's co-ordinator in Leicester, said: "Islam requires its followers to help the needy and to alleviate the suffering of people, regardless of age, gender, race and religion. All the money raised goes directly to help those suffering from abuse, serious illness or extreme poverty.''
