USA: Ahmadiyya Muslims react to Osama Bin Laden's death

“We remember the people that are suffering all around the world. The big event obviously was the killing of Osama Bin Laden and obviously we remember the families of 9/11.”

The world, especially America, feels a great sense of relief when the news of Osama bin Laden's death was announced by President Obama to the world last night.

In his speech to the American public, President Obama made a wonderful point, "As we do, we must also reaffirm that the United States is not - and never will be - at war with Islam.  I've made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam.  Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims.  Indeed, al Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many countries, including our own.  So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity."

Osama Bin Laden was indeed a mass murderer, who many don't consider Muslim at all.

“We remember the people that are suffering all around the world,” said Dr. Mubashir Mumtaz, the Hadee Mosque spokesman. “The big event obviously was the killing of Osama Bin Laden and obviously we remember the families of 9/11.”

Was Osama Bin Laden a Muslim? “I don't think he was a Muslim,” said Dr. Mumtaz. “Obviously only God knows eventually what one's faith is, but judging from the crimes that he committed, I think he was a criminal, who gave Islam a bad name.”

Women in the Muslin faith had much the same reaction. “My initial reaction was relief, we finally found a mass murderer, a terrorist,” said Saima Mumatz. “I do believe that this is a stepping stone for us. For all races and religions to get together.”

Let us hope this really is a stepping stone for all the races and religion to come together as Americans.

The Ahmaddiya Muslim Community is the oldest Muslim community in the United States starting in the early 1920's. Since the very beginning, the Community has consistently promoted Loyalty to the United States. Today, the Ahmadi Muslims have a "Muslims For Loyalty" campaign to not only show to all that we are loyal to this country but to trailblaze the way for other Muslim communities to show their loyalty to this great country.

God says in the Holy Qur'an:
"O ye who believe! obey Allah, and obey His Messenger and those who are in authority among you. And if you differ in anything refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers in Allah and the Last Day. That is best and most commendable in the end" (4:60).

In this verse, He commands all Muslims to obey not only Him and the Holy Prophet, but to obey the country in which he or she resides.

May God grant a sense of peace and closure to all those who were affected by Osama bin Laden and may all Americans show their loyalty to this great country.
