The Muslims For Life campaign continues its efforts to collect 10,000 bags of blood for 9/11.
On September 6, 2011 at George Mason, Fairfax, Inova Blood Services arrived to take those blood from those willing to contribute to the campaign's goal of saving 30,000 lives.
The cooperative efforts of Omega Psi Phi Inc., the Operation Smiles Club, and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Student Association (AMSA) produced a successful blood drive.
With their target being 90 this event managed to accumulate 116 bags of blood. Since their last blood drive at Sully Government Center at Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly, it seems a stronger awareness has been generated among the public.
Senior Account Manager for Inova Blood Donor Services, Brenda Tingen stated:
"These lifesaving gifts will touch not only the patients depending on volunteer blood donors but also family and friends. Please extend our sincere thanks to all who worked together to achieve this very successful event. It certainly was a cross cultural effort and the results were gratifying."The Ahmadiyya Community plans to go on with blood drives throughout the nation. However locally, there are still several places left where you can go to donate if you wish. Just go to http://www.muslimsforlife.org for more information.
