In light of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 the Ahmadiyya Muslim community joined forces with blood centers across the country to help those in need.
71 Ahmadiyya Muslim chapters participated in the event known as "Muslims for Life."
The event lasted from 8 until 1 this afternoon at the St. Joseph Community Blood Center.
The center says blood donations are always needed but they were thankful the Ahmadiyya Muslims dedicate a special day of giving.
"9/11 was a big impact for everyone. I think remembering that today and any day is important for people to come in and give blood and support people that are in the hospitals that need it," said Amy Baldwin with the St. Joseph Community Blood Center.
The Muslims for Life blood drive has a national goal to collect 10,000 units of blood to help save 20,000 lives.
