Following up on an invitation by members of the Ahmadiyya mosque in Oshkosh, Rep. Tom Petri and members of his staff gave blood Friday at a blood drive organized by Muslims for Life, an Ahmadiyya Muslim group involved in interfaith outreach and the rejection of terrorism.
In partnership with the American Red Cross, the group is organizing blood drives in several locations across the country. Petri participated in a collection center set up in one of the House of Representatives' largest meeting rooms.
"I was asked to do this by some of my constituents, and I'm happy to do it. Giving blood helps people, and this particular drive is dedicated to honoring the victims of 9/11," said Petri.
