GoS is scheduled for October 22nd to 30th, 2011 and Post op will be November 9-10th with the local residents.

David Gonzales, Executive Director HF Guatemala, has arranged for two days of triage October 8- 9th for patient recruitment.

This year GoS will include an optometry clinic led by Dr. Amna Malik alongside the surgical and teaching mission led by Dr. Ahsan Khan.

Currently the team includes nine confirmed members and several local Guatemalan medical residents and an ophthalmology attending.

The residents will also be assisting with the triage and post ops.

GoS has received glasses donated from the Lion’s Gate foundation and Dr. Khan has received surgical supplies.

The mission is in final organizing phase of the trip and most preparations have been made such as accommodation, surgical needs and expenses.

Traveling members have set up firstgiving.org pages to assist them with fundraising.

The Gift of Sight 2010 documentary has been shown at several dinners and other events to help raise awareness and funds for Gift of Sight.
