LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves announced this week that Gwinnett Ballet Theatre is the recipient of the organization's September 2011 grant.
#The $1,000 grant will help cover dance clothing, shoes and transportation for students of the Shiloh Dance Project as well as the instructor's salary.
#The Shiloh Dance Project has been going on at Shiloh Elementary School for the past five years, offering free dance education year-round for children who would not be able to otherwise afford it.
#"Gwinnett Ballet Theatre is very excited to welcome the Gwinnett Braves as one of our valued community partners," said marketing director Holley Calmes. "I know we will make a difference in the lives of many young fans of both baseball and ballet."LILBURN -- The University of Phoenix has given Lilburn's Imran Aswani a community service award for his "outstanding dedication to aiding community causes."
#The college alumnus led an effort for International Coastal Cleanup Day, was actively involved with Hosea Feed the Hungry and other groups as well.
#Stated University of Phoenix Vice President Michael Hearon: "Imran demonstrates the passion and drive needed to make a difference for the many causes he is engaged with."
