Lahore: December 6, 2011. A Pakistani Christian laborer was charged under blasphemy on accusation of burning pages of Holy Quran without any investigation of high ranking police officer on December 6, 2011, in Qaziabad town of sub district Shahdhara of District sheikhupura of Punjab province of Pakistan.
Khurram Masih aged 25, a mason by profession, was working with other Muslim laborers to finish marbles tiling in a house of Muslim. After finishing work, other Muslim co-workers asked him to collect the trash and set it on fire.
The Muslims feel ashamed to touch any sort of trash or garbage in Pakistan being in upper class as a Muslim and leave such jobs on Christians. That’s why Khurram Masih as forced to collect trash and clean the workplace.
When Khurram Masih was burning papers and hardboards in which marble tiles were wrapped, the home owner Mohammad Abdul Majeed arrived on scene and saw some pages in Arabic language were in fire.
Mohammad Abdul Majeed instead of blaming other Muslim laborers accused Khurram Masih of defiling Holy Quran and started beating him.
The other Muslim co-workers of Khurram Masih also joined Mohammad Majeed on beating him and started shouting that Khurram is a blasphemer on which other Muslim laborers came out of homes and attacked Khurram Masih.
Meanwhile, announcement was made from mosque loudspeakers that one Christian have committed act of blasphemy by intentionally burning pages of Holy Quran on which a mob gathered and started pushing and kicking Khurram Masih to towards nearby Saddar Police Station.
Khurram Masih is married and living in Shahdhara with his wife and parents. Shahdhara town is only couple of miles at distance from Lahore, capital city of Punjab province.
The government of Pakistan announces after every case of blasphemy that in future a high level committee shall examine facts and decide to register First Information Report FIR in these cases but such measures are never adopted.
In incident of Khurram Masih, he begged to Muslim mob and police that he is not educated and never realized what he was burning but none was ready to know facts or to investigate that what other Muslim workers were doing at that time and why they not took out pages of Holy Quran from trash.
On pressure of Muslim mob and Mohammad Majeed Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police filed FIR 1112/11 under section 295/B PPC against Khurram Masih and locked him in Police Station lockup.
Khurram Masih will be produced before city Magistrate for police remand today and it is feared that Khurram Masih will face anger of Muslims and assault in courthouse.
