CHILDREN living in poverty across the world are hundreds of pounds better off - thanks to big-hearted supermarket shoppers who donated to a Sheffield youth group’s charity collection.

Seven members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Sheffield raised £363 for Save the Children UK by staging a bucket collection at Morrisons supermarket at Hillsborough Barracks in Hillsborough.

The youth organisation gets involved regularly in voluntary work and fundraising for charities including the NSPCC, the Royal National Institute for the Blind and for Leukeamia and Lymphoma Research.

A spokesman for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Sheffield said: “We would like to say a special thank you to the Morrisons staff and to all the shoppers who donated.”
