Fiji: Nuclear war threat real, Ahmadiyya leaders

THE Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat has backed the call by its mother branch for world leaders to join forces in the face of the looming threat of a nuclear war.

President Fazalullah Tariq called on big nations to understand the significance of peace and work towards it.

His comments follow the message of the organisation's world head Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad at the ninth annual symposium in London.

Mr Tariq said Mr Ahmad's message served as a warning for global leaders to unite for peace sake.

"There is no peace in the world," he said.

"If the big nations don't understand that, then the threat of a nuclear war is even more real."

In his address to the 1000-plus people that gathered for the symposium at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, London, Mr Ahmad called on all people and organisations to promote peace and justice.

According to a statement issued by the organisation's United Kingdom office, Mr Ahmad cautioned that if immediate action was not taken to establish peace then the alternative was truly frightening.

"One likely scenario would be the outbreak of a nuclear war in which the majority of the world would be consumed and whose consequences would last for generations to come.

"If a nuclear war breaks out, we will find that people will instantly die and freeze like statues, and their skin will simply melt away."
