Chino, California: More than 70 Muslim men over the age of 40 from seven south-western U.S. chapters of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community gathered at the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, Calif., over the Memorial Day weekend to strengthen ties of friendship and spiritual fellowship.
Members representing Southern California came from Los Angeles, San Diego and the Inland Empire, while out-of-state members came from Las Vegas, Phoenix and Tucson.
Members spent Saturday and Sunday, May 26-27, engaged in the five-time-daily prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran and several other mental and physical activities.
The event began Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and their translation into English, followed by the Ansarullah Pledge led by Dawood Munir, who was representing the national president of the Ansar auxiliary.
Imam Shamshad A. Nasir, the spiritual leader of the Baitul Hameed Mosque and the SW regional missionary for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the US, also addressed the attendees.
Imam Shamshad exhorted the Ansars in attendance to rededicate themselves to going to the mosque for regular congregational prayers with their families to increase their connection to the mosque and to each other.
Sunday’s activities started early at 4:00am with extra congregational prayers called Tahajjud and the main focus of the day's engagements was discussion and coordination of efforts to preach the true teachings and message of Islam, and programs for the moral and religious training of the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
The men-over-40 auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, known as Ansarullah or Helpers of God, has the responsibility of demonstrating to the younger generation the high moral qualities and spirituality expected of devout Muslims.
