MUSLIMS from Halesowen and Cradley Heath are planning a right royal celebration to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association will be striding out for the Royal British Legion when they join in a 10k fundraising walk in London on Sunday (May 13).

Members are also hosting a street party in Long Lane, Halesowen, outside their new mosque which opened in March in a former Methodist church, on Sunday June 3.

Assistant regional president for the Midlands branch of the Ahmadiyya Youth Association Toby Ephram said the charity walk was an annual event, this year held in the capital to mark the jubilee, attracting Muslims from all over Britain.

It is expected to raise up to half a million pounds for various charities, with the Halesowen and Cradley Heath members raising money for the British legion.

He added that the street party, which will start at 4pm, is open to everyone.
