Kuwaiti Ameer rejects law seeking death penalty for blasphemy
Opposition members of parliament, especially Islamists, said the Cabinet should resign or implement the law since it was unanimously approved.

His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, has rejected a law that sought the death penalty for those who insult God Almighty, the Holy Quran, and the Prophet Mohammed and his wives, parliament sources said.
The law had been approved by lawmakers and state ministers in two rounds of voting.
Opposition members of parliament, especially Islamists, said the Cabinet should resign or implement the law since it was unanimously approved.
Under Kuwaiti law, the Emir can reject laws passed by parliament.
