The Ahmadiyya Muslim community of the United States will award Tina Ramirez, director of international and government relations at the Becket Fund, with the Second Annual Ahmadiyya Muslim Humanitarian Award.
The award will be given during the community’s 64th Annual Convention which will be held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on June 29th through July 1st.
According to the Becket Fund website, the award is in recognition of work done by Ms. Ramirez and the Becket Fund for defending the religious freedoms.
“Ms. Ramirez is honored to be accepting the award on behalf of her congressional work defending the religious freedom of this community,” the Becket Fund stated on its website.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, according to the organization’s website, is a non-profit, public-interest legal and educational institute that protects the free expression of all faiths.
Further according the website, “The Becket Fund exists to vindicate a simple but frequently neglected principle: that because the religious impulse is natural to human beings, religious expression is natural to human culture.”
In 2011, the Inaugural Annual Ahmadiyya Muslim Humanitarian Award was given to three honorees; U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA-12); Ms. Nina Shea, Commissioner for U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom; and Veerawit Tianchainan, Executive Director of Thai Committee for Refugees Foundation.
