USA: Ahmadi Muslims condemn shooting at Sikh Temple

Nation’s oldest Muslim organization sends condolences and calls for peace and justice

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the USA had strongly condemned the 'senseless shooting' this morning on Sikh worshipers gathered at the Gurdwara in the city of Oak Creek, near Milwaukee (Wisconsin).

"While details of the attack continue to emerge," the press release said, "such brutality and hatred does not represent the otherwise tolerant and peaceful relationships between faith communities in this nation."

"Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA calls on all people of conscience to condemn this act," the statement further read.

"Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA extends its prayers, condolences and sympathy to the Sikh community and hopes that justice will be established as law enforcement search for the suspect."

Dr. Nasim Rehmatullah, National Vice President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA expressed profound grief over the incident and killing of innocent members of the Sikh community .

“We are saddened that our Sikh friends suffered at the hands of this senseless act,” Dr. Rehmatullah said.

"This incident demonstrates more attention needs to be paid to religious education in order to foster a more tolerant and peaceful society.”

Headquartered in Maryland, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is the first American-Muslim organization.

Founded in India in 1889, the community was established in the USA in 1920.
