Letters: Lets condemns violence and misuse of 'free speech'

A Muslim feels great pain when the holy founder of Islam is maligned in such a manner. However, at the same time, I strongly condemn the violent protests occurring in Muslim countries. These violent protests are completely non-Islamic.

Dear Editor:

The anti-Islam film, Innocence of Muslims, is outrageous. It was only made to hurt Muslims worldwide.

A disgusting picture of the Prophet Muhammad has been painted based on utter lies. In a progressive North American society, such films take us a step backwards.

I’m all for freedom of speech but the type of freedom that hurts others should be discouraged.

A Muslim feels great pain when the holy founder of Islam is maligned in such a manner.

However, at the same time, I strongly condemn the violent protests occurring in Muslim countries. These violent protests are completely non-Islamic.

Unfortunately, most western countries perceive these violent protests to be the true image of Islam.
