Tragedy has no boundaries. When something as shocking and senseless as the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting spree occurs, the grief and heartache are felt by all.

At the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, CA, Imam Shamshad A. Nasir and members of his Ahmadiyya Muslim Community congregation watched in horror as details of the massacre unfolded on the TV news: 20 children and 6 adults shot dead.

The Imam spoke of the tragic loss of life during his Friday sermon, urging his congregation to pray for the families of the victims, saying:
“Our most heartfelt prayers are with the families of the victims of this awful tragedy. This is a very, very sad day. We mourn with the nation and we call on our leaders and the public to come together to prevent such evil from happening in the future. We need better gun laws and ways to keep guns from getting into the hands of people who would do such a terrible thing.”
Imam Shamshad condemned the attack as a terrorist act of the most heinous kind imaginable. He called on members to pray for an end to such insanity that seems to be more and more frequent in today’s modern society.
