Dharmasraya - A mob attacked a house occupied by Ngasiman Hadi Susanto and his family, in the neighborhood of Laganjaya II, Nagari Sipangkur, Sub-District Tiumang, Dharmasraya district. The attack was carried out on Sunday (17/2) at about 19.00 pm, because Ngasiman is accused of being Ahmadiyah follower (Ahmadi member). Feeling threatened, the victim reported and asked for police protection to the center for police services of Kotobaru Police Sector.
Information gathered by Padang Express at the precinct of Kotobaru Police Sector, the mass of the same neighborhood as Ngasiman destroyed the house of the 49 year old man. According to the victim, his house was attacked while he was praying inside with his family. The mob came and immediately smashed the windows of victim's home.
Dharmasraya’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chairul Aziz explained that the incident was triggered by the event of one of the residents of the neighborhood of Laganjaya II, Supriano, 24, affiliate (follow) to the teachings of the victim. Supriano’s family and the local community could not accept this and committed vandalism towards Ngasiman’s home. In addition to the damage, the mob also asked Ngasiman and his family to leave the neighborhood.

According to the Chief Police, mob attack related to religious beliefs is the first time happened in Dharmasraya. He also hopes this is the last time, or does not continue anymore. The community is asked to refrain themselves. "We urge the residents to restrain themselves. Everyone in Indonesia has human rights which must be mutually respected. So whatever the problem is, please do not be vigilante, "said Chairul Azis.
Following up on the issue, the police will have a meeting with the Inter-Religious Communication Forum in Dharmasraya. "Tomorrow (18 February 2013) a forum of communication between religious communities will have a meeting. So, we’ll see the decision of the forum later. After that we take action, "he said.
