74 people are blown to pieces, as Hazzara Shias are again targeted in a powerful bomb-blast in Quetta, the provincial capital of the Balochistan province of Pakistan.
According to the local law & order authorities in Quetta, the attack was carried out with a truck-bomb packed with 180-200 pounds of explosives.
Wazir Khan Nasir, Deputy Inspector General of Balochistan Police confirmed that the attack took place in Hazara Town area of Quetta, where Hazara population is mostly concentrated.
Pakistan’s banned terrorist organization, Lashkar-e Jahngvi (LeJ) has accepted the responsibility for the deadly blast in a phone call to BBC Urdu news, it has been reported.
Majority of the LeJ leaders and other banned organization are now operating under Sunni-Tehreek (ASWJ) and Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) banners.
Despite the relentless killing campaign against Shias of Pakistan, much of the country’s Urdu and some sections of the English media continue to resist calling it as attacks by ASWJ-LeJ Sunnis on Shias.
Last month, on January 10th, scores of Shias were murdered in twin bomb attacks on Alamdar Road in Quetta.
