The Conference held at Florida International University on March 6 was the first in a series of events planned in South Florida to commemorate the life of Prophet Muhammad (sa). The event was held at FIU’s School of International and Public Affairs. Students, faculty and people from all walks of life gathered at the picturesque FIU campus to participate in the conference.
This conference aimed to highlight the character of Prophet Muhammad (sa) and elaborate on the essence of his message which is comprehensive and a complete guide for mankind. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has undertaken this nationwide campaign to counter the propaganda against the most peace loving Prophet (as) and to filter facts from fiction.
An unbiased evaluation of the life of Prophet Muhammad (sa) shows that his life has lessons for all- Muslims must emulate his character to prove their true allegiance to him and others must recognize that Prophet Muhammad’s (sa) life contains remedies for the ills that plague mankind today. Muhammad (sa) was an ultimate peace-maker, committed to absolute justice and equality for all. He was the savior whose message resonates of hope for all- women, minorities and the beleaguered segments of society, who often feel neglected and marginalized.
Last night’s conference started with a recitation of the Holy Quran that was followed by a brief video introducing the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
A group of children rendered a beautiful recitation of an Arabic poem in the praise of Prophet Muhammad (sa) written by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) - the founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
The keynote address of the night “The Holy Prophet (sa): A messenger of peace and reconciliation” was delivered by Mr Habeeb Shafeek. This comprehensive speech provided factual evidence from the life of Muhammad (sa) that proves his commitment to peace, the real essence of Islam. Prophet Muhammad (sa) strived for and achieved inter-religious peace by bringing warring factions of war-ridden Arabia together and allowed them to live in peaceful coexistence. He also provided a remedy for national and international peace through Divine guidance. Islam being a complete religion also stresses upon the attainment of peace between man and God and Prophet Muhammad (sa) through his character demonstrated this and paved way for his followers to achieve everlasting peace, communion with their Maker, God.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is deeply committed to the example of their most beloved Prophet (sa). They have put their words into action and are avidly demonstrating their true allegiance to their dear Prophet and following in his footsteps. The humanitarian efforts of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community were shown through two video presentations. A video documenting the efforts of Humanity First, sister relief organization of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was presented. Another elaborated on the ‘Muslims for Life’ nationwide blood drives across US to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11.
The event concluded after a Q&A session and silent prayers. Dinner was provided at the end of the conference.
