The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Gambia Friday held its 37th Edition of Jalsa Salana at the Masroor Senior Secondary School in Yundum.
Speaking on the occasion, Baba F Trawally, the amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Gambia, said the purpose of Jalsa Salana is to develop the love of Allah the Almighty in the hearts of human beings and to wipe out all the evils that cause disorder both within and without the person. He stated that the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustapha (SAW) has said that the angels of Mercy cover those who gather in the remembrance of Allah Almighty.
According to him, greed is Man's great enemy and it is Satan's weapon for creating serious rift among humanity. "The Holy Qur'an admonishes that we must not cast our eyes unto what other people posses; we must be contented with what Allah Almighty provides us with. The Holy Prophet Muhammed Mustapha (SAW) said that richness is not the abundance of wealth; it is the contentment of the heart. If the heart is contented, a man's faculties diffuse love to his environs," he quoted.
Amir Trawally added that devotion to Allah the Almighty is the only means for purifying the hearts and ridding it of greed, noting that Islam is the only religion today that guides man to that true devotion. "If we do our best to live by its teachings, we shall become beloved ones of Allah Almighty," he said.
For his part, Alhagie Ebrima Faye, the alkali of Old Yundum village, said that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at has done a tremendous job for his community, as they built Masroor Senior Secondary School where their kids are acquiring quality education. He further remarked that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at is playing a great role in the development of health in The Gambia, as they have established numerous health facilities across the country. Faye went on to thank the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at for their intervention in the education and health sector. He also encouraged them to continue with the great work, as their reward will directly come from God.
Demba L Sanyang, the representative of Sayfoes and Alkalolu, pointed out that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at has contributed immensely towards the development of this nation, whilst describing the move as a step in the right direction. He remarked that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at is participating meaningfully in the maintenance of peace and stability in The Gambia, which is a good thing that every citizen of this country should acknowledge. Sanyang finally praised them for a job well done and encouraged them to keep up the momentum as far as Islam is concerned.
