Los Angeles -- The Khalifa of Islam and spiritual head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community arrived here this afternoon amid members of the community raising slogans of God's Greatness and announcing Salutations of Peace for the Holy Founder of Islam, the Holy Prophet Mohammd.
His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad - who is the 5th successor of the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India - reached Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, a town located about 50 miles east of Los Angeles.
Upon his arrival at the Los Angeles Airport, the Khalifa of Islam was greeted by Sheriff Lee Baca of the Los Angeles county and Dennis Zine, Los Angeles City Councilman.
"Los Angeles welcomes you, Your Holiness," Sheriff Baca said to Hadhrat Ahmad. "We are home to 500,000 Muslims"
"We want thousands more Ahmadis in Los Angeles."
His Holiness was presented with official city proclamation.
"History in the making," wrote Amjad Khan, Public Relations Director of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA. "L.A. welcomes the Khalifa of Islam with a full 1-hour, 10-car police escort to the mosque in Chino."
The twitter-posts by Khan were hash-tagged #KhalifainLA.
His Holiness is on a two week visit to the West Coast of the United States of America.
Young Children and dozens of youth lined up to sing spiritual chorus' at the newly renovated Ahmadiyya Muslim mosque.
During his visit, His Holiness will meet with thousands of American Muslims.
His Holiness will also hold dialogue with many U.S. government and civic leaders to strengthen relationships and find common means of establishing peace and justice for all people of the world.
On May 11, His Holiness will deliver the keynote address at a special bi-partisan reception in Beverly Hills, California.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a fast growing international revival movement within Islam.
Founded in 1889, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans 200 countries with, according to some estimates, membership exceeding 160 millions.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is the first American-Muslim organization.
