The Human Services (Khidmath-e-Khalq) department of a local branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya [MKA]) in Shimoga, Karnataka, donated refurbished cloths to the homeless and the special-need children.
On the 4th of August a team of volunteers in Shimoga along with the local president of the community and the leaders of the youth group went to tented areas of the homeless and distributed clothing materials before going to an NGO-run Happy Home Orphanage for distribution to the children.
The members of the Shimoga Ahmadiyya Community had donated re-useable cloths for this purpose that benefited at least 500 needy people.
About 300 of the recipients were homeless who could not afford any clothing.
The community members also donated cloths to 70 specially-need handicapped children who were being taken care by the NGO.
Clothes were also distributed o the most needy whose survival depends on panhandling and begging in surrounding areas.
A similar program was conducted in February on the occasion of Platinum Jubilee of MKA, and cloths were distributed to about 100 poor children.
It turned out to be a a very emotional and a successful event organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community and it was well appreciated by all.
