Chino, California: Americans donate blood to honor 9/11 victims through annual "Muslims for Life" Campaign
"Be kind and merciful to all humanity for all are His creatures; oppress them not with your tongue, hands, or in any other ways. Always work for the good of humanity." [Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908)]

9/11, a day that will be remembered forever and will be an important day for many Muslim Americans, is a time for us to join with our fellow Americans and pray for the families of 9/11 and donate blood in the spirit of service to humanity.
To honor the victims of 9/11 and to emphasize Islam's essential teaching regarding the sanctity of life, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA has been organizing its Annual "Muslims for Life" Blood Drive Campaign between August 11 and October 11.
This noble effort has brought the community together to save thousands of lives since the campaign inception three years ago. From Capitol Hill to Chino, California, the nationwide efforts are again going strong this year, with a goal to collect 12,000 units of blood which translates to 36,000 lives saved.
To this effect, there was a blood drive on 9/11/2013 at Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, California, and a total of 24 units were collected, that will help towards saving 72 lives.
At a second event sponsored by the community at Tom's Farms in Corona, California, 18 units of blood collected.
It was great to see the local community support and how Americans from various backgrounds and religions joined in the spirit of humanity as one. This is the true essence of Islam and as Muslims our message is simple: We don't shed bled, we give blood.
I have grown up with a simple but very meaningful motto that Ahmadi Muslims live by: "Love for All, Hatred for None" and what guides me in my daily life is this quote from the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and our Messiah of this age, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India.
"Be kind and merciful to all humanity for all are His creatures; oppress them not with your tongue, hands, or in any other ways. Always work for the good of humanity."
Ahmadiyya Times update:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at the Baitul Hameed Mosque has a dozen blood drives planned of which two have been completed with a total of 42 blood-units collected so far.
Another ten blood drives are slated for for various days and location to conclude through October 11.
