Perspective: Violent protests not solution Islam provided

It is beyond one’s understanding why America has been so adamant on a military response when most other countries are advocating a diplomatic solution.

As a society, our primary goal is to establish peace. The events occurring presently in Syria are most unfortunate.

In 1925, when a Syrian tribe staged an uprising, French government conducted air strikes which killed thousands.

Nowadays, we see a similar situation developing where America plans to conduct an airstrike.

This is being done in name of freedom. It is beyond one’s understanding why America has been so adamant on a military response when most other countries are advocating a diplomatic solution.

The reality is that leaders of Syria have failed to fulfill the rights owed to their citizens. Syrian leaders claim to follow the religion of Islam but Prophet Muhammad said, “The most beloved and the closest to God would be a just and fair ruler.”

Can the government truly claim to be just and fair?

On the flip side, citizens of Syria should realize that violent protests are not the solution that Islam has provided. When Holy Prophet of Islam was questioned with regards to citizens’ rights being usurped, he responded, “Rights of the rulers should be paid at such times and one’s own rights should be sought from God.”

As an Ahmadi Muslim, I believe that if these matters are not handled with diplomatic solutions, we could be treading towards a global conflict. Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community states, “In order to maintain peace, the foremost requirement is justice.”

If citizens and governments truly followed a path of peace, they would adapt justice.
