Eid-Ul-Adha was celebrated here in Qadian which commemorates the Patriarch Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to God.
This festival also marks the end of the Hajj (Muslims pilgrimage) at Mecca.
Maulana Munir Ahmad Khadim led the prayers in Masjid Aqsa and thousands of Muslim men, women and children followed him in offering the Eid prayers.
Special extra arrangements were made for woman to offer their prayer at Masjid Mubarik.
In his Eid sermon after the prayers, Maulana Khadim spoke about the willingness and the importance of sacrifices at all times.
Maulana Khadim advised the congregation to follow the excellent example set forth by the Prophet Abraham and his son Prophet Ishmael.
The blood of the animal slaughtered by prophet Abraham, Maulana Khadim explained, signified the end of human sacrifice which prevailed at that time.
After the Eid sermon, a prayer for the peace of the world was offered and Muslims greeted by embracing each other.
The congress President Punjab and member of parliament, Partap Singh Bajwa, joined the festivities and offered his well wishes at the Ahmadiyya Headqurater Qadian.
