Rawalpindi - In a rare show of disapproval, a spokesman of Pakistan Army's Inter Services Public Relations office issued a statement strongly condemning chief of Jamat-e Islami, Syed Munawar Hassan, for his remarks in a TV program, declaring the dead terrorists as martyrs while insulting the deaths of thousands of Pakistanis and soldiers of Pakistan's armed forces as 'questionable'.

The statement called Hassan's remarks 'irresponsible and misleading'. "Syed Munawar Hassan has tried to invent a logic based on his political convenience."

Implying Jama't-e Islami chief an enemy of Pakistan, the ISPR statement further stressed that public condemnation of Hassan's views "leaves no doubt in any one's mind that all of us are very clear on what the state of Pakistan is and who are its enemies."

The statement said that the army martyrs and their families "need no endorsement from Syed Munawar Hassan" and termed his point of view as 'misguided and self-serving'..

The army demanded that Syed Munawar Hassan unconditionally apologize to the nation for 'hurting their feelings.'

"It is also expected that Jamat-e-Islami should clearly state its party position on the subject," the statement further demanded..
