People wearing red poppy flowers, volunteers carrying charity boxes on subway stations and the red flower boxes at numerous restaurants, is a common sight during the lead-up to Remembrance Day. The 11th of November is a memorial day observed in common wealth countries to honor the members of their armed forces who lost their lives fighting for the security of their citizens and their beloved nation. The red colored poppy is a symbol of remembrance; by wearing the poppy Canadians show their appreciation towards the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for a noble cause.

The Ahmadiyaa Muslim Community, Canada has also taken the initiative of whole heartedly participating in this blessed task. Ahmadi Muslims strive to live up to the simple but profound message of Islam that can be summed up in ‘Love for all, Hatred for None’. And one of the fundamental concepts of this message is loyalty to country.  Every Canadian Muslim should try to uphold this message and should remain loyal and devoted to serving this great nation. In order to show their stand up for their home land, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community actively took part in the Canadians Poppy appeal.Volunteers encouraged the members of the community to wear the poppy and collected donations for the Royal Canadian legion, Canada’s largest veterans and community services organization, at all prayer centers across Canada. The community also sent volunteers to the Union station in Toronto and to local GO stations.
