Two charities nominated by Mayor of Lancaster June Ashworth have been given £500 each by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK.
The organisation has 20,000 members across the UK, including in Lancaster, and held a charity walk in June in Manchester.
It raised more than £250,000 for good causes. Coun Ashworth chose the RNLI and North West Air Ambulance.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association regularly raises money for charities across the UK.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association is a religious organisation that seeks to present the true interpretation of Islam and advocates its peaceful dissemination. They have a long history in organising walks, the first of which was held in 1985.
