Quite literally, our campaign “denounces those who, under the banner of the Muslim faith, use terror tactics to murder innocent people.”

I applaud Bob Rush for his great response (“Sentences could ensure goals,” Jan. 22) to my previous letter (“New imam building bridges in community,” Jan. 19) and his call for clear condemnation of extremist clerics.

He will be pleased to know that I am an imam for the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, founded 125 years ago by the Messiah Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who condemned all religious violence or propagating Islam with the sword.

Thus, in 125 years, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has expanded to over 200 nations without a single act of violence.

Ahmad wrote over 100 years ago, “It should be remembered that today’s Islamic scholars completely misunderstand Jihad and misrepresent it to the general public. Those clerics who persist in propagating these blood-spattered doctrines are in fact responsible for murders...”

Quite literally, our campaign “denounces those who, under the banner of the Muslim faith, use terror tactics to murder innocent people.”

Therefore, I invite everyone for an open, peaceful, and educational dialogue. I hope to hear from you soon. My email is salman.tariq@ahmadiyya.us.
