I would like to extend my condolences to the families of those that were hurt by the senseless violence at the Jewish community center in Overland Park and the Village Shalom retirement home in Kansas.

I believe that hate has no religion. As an American Muslim, I am especially sympathetic toward anti-Semitic violence due to shared reverence for Israelite prophets, especially since Passover started: “Say, ‘We believe in … that which was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Tribes, and that which was given to Moses and Jesus and other Prophets from their Lord.’” (3:85)

As Muslims who believe in the Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community condemns violence and has been involved in interfaith dialogue since its inception 125 years ago. This horrific incident proves that as Americans we need to better understand each other and our faiths. This can only happen if we are involved in more interfaith activities.
