USA: Boston bombing a violation of Islam | Letter

By preferring to follow a perverse ideology of terrorism rather than the Quranic instruction of not to create disorder on the Earth (2: 12-16), they clearly demonstrated that they were not true Muslims.

Today marks the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon terrorist attack. The impact of this act and the innocent lives lost that day is still fresh in our memories.

While the Quran (5:32) promotes the sanctity of life ("Whosoever killed a person, it shall be as if he had killed the entire mankind; and whoso saved a life, it shall be if he had saved the entire mankind"), the Tsarnaev brothers tried to portray Islam as a religion of terror and destruction. By preferring to follow a perverse ideology of terrorism rather than the Quranic instruction of not to create disorder on the Earth (2: 12-16), they clearly demonstrated that they were not true Muslims.

As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, my heartfelt condolences go to those whose loved ones were killed or hurt in this heinous act of violence. Also, I pray for the safety of the Boston Marathon participants and spectators this year.
