Kumasi – The Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission has urged encouragement and support for girls to pursue academic careers.

Mrs Hawa Acheampong, its President, said it was important, particularly, that Muslim women showed keen interest in the education of their children.

They should be prudent in their spending to ensure that they have enough to take care of their kids’ school needs.

She was speaking at the closing ceremony of the third annual regional conference of the Nasirat-Ul Ahmadiyya, which is made up girls aged between 5-15 years in Kumasi.

 “Sacrifice, the responsibility of a Nasirat” was the theme for the three-day meeting.

The programme brought together over 400 young girls to socialize, share ideas, engage in sporting and religious activities and learn more about Allah.

Mrs Acheampong said secular education was an effective weapon for fighting poverty, ignorance, diseases and other social evils and that was why premium must be placed on it.

She reminded parents to live up to their responsibilities to kids and ensure that they feared Allah, be honest, hard working and humane.

Mrs Aisha Kusiwaa Adusei, the Regional Secretary of Nasirat, advised the children to be disciplined, humble and to respect the elderly and those in authority.

She urged them to reject any bad conduct, likely to ruin their future and remain faithful to Allah and adhere to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.

Miss Mariam Nurudeen Asante, Regional President of the Nasirat, appealed to parents to encourage their children to participate in the annual programme to broaden their outlook.
