Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will take part in a national 600 mile cycle next week to raise money for charity and dispel false stereotypes about Muslims propagated by some far right groups.
The Ride for Peace will stop at 13 mosques along the way, including The London Mosque in Southfields and the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, the largest mosque in Western Europe.
As well as demonstrating some of the positive contributions being made by British Muslims, the 25 riders are also on target to raise £100,000 for the British Heart Foundation and Humanity First.
The basic route will be: Glasgow - Hartlepool - Bradford - Huddersfield - Sheffield - Manchester - Birmingham - Oxford - Feltham - South-West London.
The AMYA was established in the UK in 1913 with the arrival of the first missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. They now have over 30 mosques and mission houses in the UK and more than 40,000 members who preach loyalty, peace, tolerance and respect.
The ride will be held from Sunday June 1 – Saturday June 7 as part of the community’s centenary celebrations.
