India: MP Abhijit Mukherjee visits Qadian, pays respect at Ahmadiyya holy sites


Abhijit Mukherjee said his many Ahmadi Muslims friends in Bengal with extended families in Qadian had desired that he should pay a visit to Qadian.

An Indian lawmaker who represents the Jangipur constituency in the Indian state of West Bengal, paid a friendly visit to the town of Qadian in Punjab, India, the birthplace of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Abhijit Mukherjee, Member of Parliament (MP) and a member of the Indian National Congress, toured several holy sites in Qadian and exchanged dialogue with Ahmadi high officials.

MP Mukherjee, son of the President of India, Parnab Mukherjee, won the 2012 Jangipur Lok Sabha constituency election after the seat was vacated by his father who was elevated to the nation's highest office.

Upon arrival in Qadian, MP Mukharji was welcomed by Mohammad Inam Ghori, Cchief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in India.

The distinguished lawmaker visited the famous Masjid Aqsa in Qadian and climbed up a flight of stairs of the Minarat-ul Masih  and viewed the town of Qadian from the first level of the minaret. He also met the care taker of the Aqsa mosque, Farooq Ahmad, who hails from his constituency in West Bengal.

MP Mukherjee also visited Darul Masih, the birthplace of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, the holy founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and the burial site of Hazrat Ahmad in Bahishti Maqbra.

Abhijit Mukherjee said his many Ahmadi Muslims friends in Bengal with extended families in Qadian had desired that he should pay a visit to Qadian. Mukherjee further said that an Ahmadi friend had given him a book entitled “World Crisis and Pathway to Peace” by Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and after reading this book he was very impressed with the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

Ahmadi elders, Syed Tanvir Ahmad, Syed Aziz Ahmad, Shiraz Ahmad, Mohammad Ismael Banday, Rafique Ahmad Baig, Hafiz Makhdoom Sharief, and Zaheer Ahmad Khadim were also present.

Maulana Mohammad Inam Ghori and Mohammad Nasim Khan presented a shawl and literature of Ahmadiyya Jamaat to the distinguished guest.

  1. Masha Allah barakallah all ahle Qadian living abroad are very happy to see indian President son visiting Qadian.
    Little correction.. The birth place of Ahmadiyya Community is Ludhiana darul bai'at. Qadian is Headquarter of Ahmadiyya Community.
